The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President seeks applications for the position of Dean of Faculties and Associate Provost.  The search is internal and Provost Fierke wishes to complete the process by the beginning of the spring semester.

The Dean of Faculties and Associate Provost reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President and plays a major role in the proactive planning for the Division of Academic Affairs, representing faculty needs and issues. The Dean of Faculties and Associate Provost works with multiple university constituencies to facilitate an environment in which each faculty member can achieve his or her maximum potential. The Dean of Faculties oversees administrative aspects of key faculty related processes such as hiring, tenure and promotion, and faculty development.

Applicants must be tenured with a rank of Professor. The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively and evaluate all requests objectively. The individual must also be able to work well with all segments of the University and external constituencies. Finally, the applicant must possess the ability to verbalize the academic goals and objectives of the University to both large and small groups.
 

Application Process

Applications should include a cover letter with a clear statement of why the applicant believes he or she is qualified for the position, a description of key relevant experience, and a vision statement for the position and its role in the university; a vitae; and three references. The committee will contact references after a preliminary screening of the applications. For full consideration, applications should be received no later than Monday, October 15, 2018. The position will remain open until filled.
